The scenery is so beautiful! There are trees, water, bridges, roads, walkways, and plenty of wildlife outside of the palace museum. This museum has three floors of exhibits, including a gift shop, bakery, coffee shop, ice cream shop, and automated 7-Eleven machine on the ground floor. The staff is extremely friendly and there’s even a tram station next to the parking lot with a shuttle every fifteen minutes intervals. Worth a visit for the entire family and cool way to see all the artifacts from ancient history.

It is a bit far out, should plan the time carefully if taking the shuttle bus. The architecture of museum itself is beautiful- spacious, bright, and full of modern design elements. The exhibition layout is thoughtfully arranged, with a clear route that goes from the third floor down to the first. It’s easy to follow and comfortable even for elderly visitors and children. Personally, I really enjoyed the exhibitions on Buddhist culture, Asian tea culture, and the treasure-hunting theme. so many exquisite artifacts on display. The crowd size was just right, allowing plenty of time to explore and take lots of lovely photos. The special exhibition “A Thousand Years of Jiazi” starts in November, so unfortunately I missed the chance to see the three authentic Northern Song landscape paintings this time. Hopefully, I’ll get to visit again next year.

Beautiful building and interesting grounds, diverse collection that's well curated. Even the cafe is pretty good but it could be better. Friendly staff. A half an hour ride from town.

It’s just about ten year old and to have this southern branch of the national museum so far away from Taipei is really making history and art and culture accessible to many in the south of Taipei. When I went I saw a lot of children on a school trip with their teachers. The collection spans two floors with the first floor really for a children day care, restaurant and the museum gift shops. The exhibit upstairs hosts the permanent collection of antiquities from Jade to imperial collection that rotates and they have a rotating exhibits. I was impressed seeing the ornate Qing Manchu dynasty personal items that was very intimate and very well designed and executed. I don’t recall even seeing these items in Beijing or Shanghai. They had a tea exhibit that was interesting. And in a few select locations they have interactive exhibits where you can create a digital souvenir featuring yourself interacting with traditional dress or fabric in the Asian fabric collection.
